In light of increasing automation and the introduction of autonomous systems, dependability will certainly become a key concern for developers, integrators and operators of these systems, as the concept compromises its availability, reliability, maintainability, safety and security properties.
New developments, such as the use of learning algorithms, machine learning, and the introduction of agile methods in system development raise new questions. We examine questions about dependability and discuss possibilities and limits of self-learning and autonomous systems with regard to dependability.
